Trump NOT a Blight on Republicans

Trump isn't a blight on the GOP brand; he exposed the GOP brand for what it is. This has always been the GOP Brand, cleverly camouflaged by starched white shirts (now sheets) and Brooks Brothers suits. They claimed to stand for reducing deficits, a strong military and a smaller government (the last two always being an oxymoron) but really did a masterful job of pitting working-class whites against their own interests (stable blue collar jobs that quietly got offshored) while by creating a series of boogeymen. They invented the welfare queen of the late seventies, who morphed into Willie Horton in the mid-eighties, who morphed into Gay Marriage in the 90s, who morphed into "woke" people (women and minorities) who morphed into immigrants in the most recent election cycle. All the while they were aggravating income inequality through "trickle down" economics, which flowed wealth UP to them.
